In conjunction with the first graduating class from the Bible School in Kotidanga, a five-day rally was held at Kotidanga Baptist Church. With attendance breaking the 1,000 mark on at least one occasion, villages from throughout the mountains of Gulf Province came to hear the preaching and to witness the graduation of the first five young preachers trained by Missionary Matt Allen.
Hundreds of people from the mountains flooded the meeting place at Kotidanga Baptist Mission. People came from many different villages to take part in the special meetings. A group from Watitako Baptist Church (near Kaintiba) traveled for over two days to minister in singing. Their pastor, Pastor Jerry Miri, along with Pastor Paul Semilolo, pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Lae, Morobe Province and the pastor of Kotidanga Baptist Church, Pastor James Naudi, were the main speakers.
Many people came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in each service as the Gospel was preached with power. Hearing the preaching in their own native Kamea language made the difference for these people, many of whom heard the Gospel for the first time. By the end of the meeting, over 120 people had trusted Christ as their personal Saviour, and many more made life-changing decisions as well.
Five young men graduated from three years of Bible training. Lawrence Wopa, Jon Katawo, Jack Naudi, Luke Naudi, and Seno Maruwa each completed their training, and are now moving into ministries either as pastors of new churches or as assistants in the church at Kotidanga.
A baptismal service was already planned for the last day of the meeting for recent converts at Kotidanga Baptist Church. A large number of people who trusted Christ during the special meeting asked if they, too, could take part in believer's baptism that day; so, a total of forty-nine people were baptized in the river behind the church on a drizzly Sunday afternoon.
Truly we can praise the Lord Jesus Christ for His working in the hearts of so many during the special meeting. Special thanks belong to those of you who pray for and support this ministry. God is working among the Kamea people!
